Wisconsin, mish-consin… Philadelphia is literally surrounded by cheese country. And we’re not talking Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Local artisan producers in our area have put the area on the map nationally and internationally in the world of cheesemaking. Kealan O’Donnel, the cheese buyer at Philadelphia’s Center City Whole Foods, returns to COOK this August for a tasting of local cheeses and accompaniments, all from within 100 miles of Philadelphia: Cherry Grove Farm Butter Cup Brie, served with William Heritage peaches and William Heritage Sparkling wine; Yellow Springs Farm Cloud Nine soft ripened goat cheese, served with Green Meadow Farm pears and 1732 Meats guanciale; and Farm at Doe Run St. Malachi Reserve Gouda, served with LFF apples and sweet mustard. Plus, in keeping with the local theme, enjoy a selection of breads from Philadelphia’s own Machine Shop Boulangerie. Say cheeeeese!
